I've never had good luck with roses and just decided to avoid them.
But now I want one. I've decided on the Nacogdoches Yellow which is supposed to do really well here.

Is now a good time to plant it...zone 8... or should I wait until spring?

Cheryl, you have chosen one of the very best roses going!
Plant now. The roots will get established before cold weather, but the bush won't be putting out new growth to compete with the roots.
We have a Nagogdoches and love it. In fact, I'd like another! It blooms frequently, requires little or no pruning, and goes through the hot summer with just a bit of supplemental watering (which you may not have to do, being more moist than we are). The blooms are stunning, too!
I'm so proud of you, you rose grower :smt041 !

I thought now would be good, but wanted to check with the experts like you, Jane.
I decided on the Nacogdoches because of your recommendation here. And I've done a little reading on it and it sounds lovely.
So... here goes...gonna order it now!
    Wish me luck! :stew2:
