Would anyone happen to have any of these seeds they'd like to get rid of? :-D I watched a youtube video of Mike McGroarty and he says they are quite easy to start from seed and I'd like to try :p

SM & CT, do you care what kind? The Japanese maple tree down the street from me casts seedlings from time to time in my yard. It is a 30 foot tall tree, maroon cut leaves. It is mature now so I doubt that it gets bigger. Pretty.

Acer palmatum (Japanese maple) seed needs to be promptly replanted to a pot and stored outdoors.

Dried or frozen acer palmatum have just about a 0% germination rate.

Actually about right now last years acer seeds should be germinating in lawns all across north america. They can (with permission) be plucked and transplanted into cells easily.

SM & CT; I am watching that Japanese maple down the street, but so far no stirrings of life yet. I live in MA, so things are a little slow here.

If you want seeds I have a small variety that is red leafed, and a slightly more vigorous green variety of Japanese maple. Just PM me in the fall and I will send seed. I am planning on saving some for a craft project that looked pretty neat. It was making dragonflies from the seed wings.
