Some of you had read my thread about a sweet stray kitty showing up on our deck on my birthday May 21st. I had named her Kit Kat. On June 8th I decided to take her to the humane society so she would get the medical care she needed. Especially dental. Since her stray hold was up this past Monday I called them to see how she was doing. They said that she was doing ok, but the vet was concerned about her weight. So they wanted to hold her for a few more days before she would be available for adoption. We had the option of adopting her once her health was checked out. Well on Tuesday of this week I received a phone call from them. They told me that Kit Kat had a major health issue and that was why she was loosing weight. They said that she had renal failure. Which means that her kidneys where failing her. So they just wanted to touch bases with us and let us know that they would be putting her to sleep. I am so glad I took her in as I would have hated to have kept her. Then have her slowly starve to death, and go through total kidney failure. I'm sure she would have been in some major pain. She is so much better off now in kitty heaven. I'm sure she is purring up a storm so to speak. She blessed us with her cuddles and love for a short time. We also gave her that love right back.
Oh no. I’m so sorry honey. That’s really sad. But much better for little Kit Kat to have her suffering ended humanely.
I'm so glad she turned up on your doorstep or goodness knows what would have happened to her. Such a pity she had such major problems but, thankfully, she's knew love from you and had her pain taken away before she suffered even more.
Oh, I'm so sorry for you, but not for Kit Kat. You did a loving and kind thing for her, and provided her with care for her last days. You are a good and caring person, and Kit Kat was fortunate to find you when she needed kindness and care.
Thank you all for your sweet words of comfort. She would have been the kitty of my dreams. Didn't scratch the furniture, didn't jump up on the cupboards, and didn't try and eat my plants. Those were the three things that kept me from wanting a cat. Oh well maybe some day, another sweet kitty will end up on our deck.
Poor Kit Kat Thanks for the update @Tooty2shoes. It was for the best that she met you in her final days.
Really sad for you, but the kitty was lucky to have found you, for you took humane steps to ensure that it did not suffer. Chapeau to you.
