Normally we get all the crab apples we need from friends but this year the worms got them first. We'll have to buy some tart apples. DH loves it on his toast plus there's a list of family and friends I share with. I normally can 30 pints and 20 quarts.
Very good. That's what I used to do for my daughter when she was 6 years old. I have apples and pie filling bit we don't use apple butter often so I just buy a small jar about every 5 years now.
Barb, Apple sauce and applebutter are "funny " things. Out in the midwest applesauce is served as a breakfast dish . I had never heard of that until we visited a friend overnight. Applesauce on the breakfast table? Applebutter is served on the all you can eat salad and bread bars around here and I see people put a huge dollop of it on their cottage cheese.
My daughter used it like my dad did. On Toast. My parents served it to me like that as a treat once in a while. Always for breakfast.
