Looks like spit on my plants. What is this?

    Are they so very destructive? I thought they were the 'cleaners' of the garden, eating rotting things.

    What we call wood lice are only a problem where they are in huge numbers and where they run out of food, then they will attack seedlings. They prefer, as said, dead and decaying material. They lack the strength of tooth to attack leaves.
    Supposedly edible too, tasting a bit like shrimps.

    Interesting Palustris. You are a fount of info! Sometimes it is gross info though! Edible!?? Taste like shrimp!??! Yeeeeww!

    This is a wood louse. they have dozens of different names.

    Yep. The ones we have are gray.
