hi i have a ton of lupins,my son wants some seeds, when are they ready to pick and ready to plant, my lupin are all going to seed now,but when do i pick the seed and what do i do with them after i pick them and when are they ready to plant, thanks
I try to catch mine before they pop open. Then I just sprinkle them on the ground like Mother Nature would have done if I'd have left them alone :-D They are VERY good at reseeding themselves. I try to dig up the little seedling babies in the driveway while they are still small and get them transplanted into a better spot as soon as I spy them
Poco I wait until the pod is dried (seems to be taking for ever this year) and starting to shrivel (before the pod opens). I have had trouble with rot for my seeds so I plant them during the summer where I am watering regularly or hold off until later the next spring.
