:setf_050: No - not nightmares !! I'm afraid they nearly all sing that. My son in Queensland has one that only sings ''Don't worry, be happy'' which is better ... a bit :worried:

This was while walking Rufus this morning.

It looks a bit like a barn on top of a light house. It hides a secret. I noticed it while it was being built. The post is a railroad tie, imbedded in a big block of concrete. I think the cedar shakes are there to disguise the railroad tie. This mail box should survive the next few earthquake and a lateral eruption of Mt. St. Helens. My guess is, the owner might have experienced a few pickup truck injuries to his prior mailboxes, but that's just a guess.

This one may have had some close encounters with pickup trucks, itself. Or maybe the retired sheriff across the road, who has a greenhouse lit 24/7 with big LEDs. Those, I suspect, could be for growing hydroponic hemp, which I imagine he'll use to make macrame plant hangers. Yes, that must be it...

This was on my Meals on Wheels route this am. I think it's rather nicely built. I know you get down off a duck. Can you get mail off a duck?

I really like that large mouth bass mailbox, the best.

One house had what I thought was a mailbox, made from a child's play kitchen. The oven was on top, and I thought it was very clever, but a little too low. Also the oven didn't look like it would hold much mail. It turned out to just be a child's play kitchen that the owners sat in front to get rid of, LOL.

Here's another house themed mailbox. Those seem to be the most popular.

Those were impressive mailboxes, @Daniel W! The duck is of course a mailard, right? I laughed at your explanation of the sheriff's greenhouse. You must be right!

I was going to say, I think it's a wood duck. Probably fir or spruce :smt044. But yes, I think you are right Droopy, It's a Mallard.

@Daniel W - those are great mail boxes. I also laughed at the hemp greenhouse. :) The bass one is my favourite.

@Pacnorwest - we have a bass and a trout mounted on the wall beside the door on the covered porch. They were out of reach for little people, but when the little people became bigger human beans ( pre teen imps) they could reach one of them. It was like nocky nocky nine fish - the let's make Mom crazy game. The one they could reach sings Elvis - Heart Break Hotel, the other I can't remember...it's a mystery along with the batteries that were removed.

But you're right about wanting to go fishing now. :)

    What a fun thread!

There are random places here in Nashville in the suburban areas where all the mailboxes are on just one side of the street, our neighborhood being one of them!

In our case, the mailbox for us and our across the street neighbor are both in front of our house. Our postal gal always gets the mail in the correct box, but deliveries are often a mess. I can always tell when there’s a new Amazon driver because we get packages from our across the street neighbor as well as our own!

I’m at my daughter’s house babysitting the grands this weekend (Paige and William went away for the weekend for their anniversary) but as soon as I get home I’ll post a pic.

Walking my canine companion today in my old neighborhood.

Not clear on what this one is.

This one has a fence around a rose bush. The rose grows out the top, like a mop of unruly hair. It will be fun to see it in bloom.

And my favorite of all. Such talent! Creative, and a beautiful message! I stopped and admired this one for a while. Even the bamboo roof!

I just noticed - the painted pruner is the outgoing mail flag. Really clever!

What a great thread this is.
I like that next to last pic with Rufus and a stem that looks like a shock-absorber.

Those are good postal efforts, Cayu. I like your “long arm” quip. Chortle.
