Is there a difference in 'Gringo' style potato salad when it comes to the actual types of potatoes one uses, compared to a real Mexican style potato salad, the one you eat with tri-tip and beans...yummmm!

I wondered about this when we had a potluck at work and a 'gringo' employee, if you will, made a delicious potato salad, but used the red smaller German potato's. While it was excellent, I remember my Aunt making them from the russet potato's which is what I make mine from, add celery, diced boiled eggs, mayo, a little sugar (very little), dash of mustard, etc.

To me there is nothing that compares to home-made.

I definately agree with you about home-made being best MangoMoon. Home-made jams, chutneys, pies etc are waaaay superior to anything you can buy in the shops - especially if you've grown the main ingredients yourself. Your Mexican style potato salad certainly sounds great.
