    Hello everyone!

I"m from the frozen tundra of Minnesota! Born and raised here, so of course I love it despite the freezing winters. It's the warmest it's been all week at a striking -3 degrees F!

Welcome to the Stew! We used to live in upstate NY, and experienced really cold weather. We prefer "balmy", just like Cheryl! We are in Central Texas, so we aren't quite as balmy as she is.

Welcome from another Texas person. I used to live in Wisconsin. It's much warmer here. What do you grow in the winter? Have you houseplants or a greenhouse? We like pictures and sharing a lot.

Hi Mel, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. Looks like only Texans online but I promise we have members from all over the world and they will start showing up before long.

It is 75 deg here this afternoon and I HATE it. Born and raised in Texas but I can't stand the heat...sometimes I think the stork lost his way when he delivered me

Hi Mel, welcome to GardenStew from Chelmsford, MA. What I know of Minnesota gardening is from a friend who lived there. She would bury her roses in the winter. Is there anything else that gets buried?

Everyone here is so friendly! :) Although I'm jealous of all you Texans, I'll let it slide because you're so welcoming. I do a lot of gardening. My Grandma got me interested because she could keep ALL her plants alive during the winter. She would bring them all inside for the winter and replant them outdoors in the spring. I don't know how she did it without the modern technology. I have to cheat.. I have an Aero-Garden for all my herbs, but I try to save some of my outdoor plants indoors, too. Not as ambitious as my Grandma, but I certainly try!

Good for your grandma for getting you interested in growing things. Oh! So do you cook with the herbs? Did she get you interested in that also?

Mel sending you a big welcome from another frozen tundra area in Wis. I hate those below zero temps. But I love the season changes we have. Looking forward as everyone else to see pic's of your garden or whatever. Glad you found this great friendly, informative, and funny community from all over the world. :stew1:

Hi and welcome Melfallen. Glad you are here where the welcome is always warm. Not that our temperatures compare with yours I am sure... The coldest it was this week was 0f. Right now it is about 15 and snowing heavily, but not as cold in the next few days, the nights...now that is different. They are down in the single digits. I will be glad when this is gone.
