Ok, I have some seeds and I've tried a few different ways to grow them, but they refuse to grow. I soaked the seeds in water over night, even let a couple of them sit in the water for a few more days. I tried keeping the seeds in the cold outside and in a refrigerator for a couple of months because I know that some seeds need that winter cold. The next thing I think I'm gonna try is soaking them over night in some vinegar to help get rid of that hard exoderm. I'm also having the same problem with Spicebush.
Passionflower seeds are extremely slow in germinating, sometimes taking a month or more. How long have you been waiting on them to show signs of life?
I bought my first plant for $1.99 and every year it comes back.It is invasive but all I do is pull it up.I dig them up and give to friends near me.I have never tried to germanate a seed.Try fileing the coating and place in a wet paper towel and place in a baggie put in a warm place check it each day.
Well, I planted a few last year very late in the season for some reason, still waiting to see if they do anything. I also planted some at the beginning of March and April this year, and still waiting on those. I tried the wet paper towel, but not the way you described. Ill give your way a try also.
I don,t know what the seed look like but if they have a hard shell try cracking them as you would a moonvine.take a very sharp pointed knife and hold the seed firm with something such as a rubber griper and crack that outter shell good. Just be very careful.Maybe that will work.
I clip my moon flower seed with the corner of a nail clipper.Nick it just enough that water can seep in.I think the same would apply to passaflora seeds then place in wet paper towel and put in plastic baggie.
