Chicken feeder that is 4 inches wide, 35 inches long and 2 inches deep. Randy is going to take off that rusted metal handle across the top and I am going to fill it with Sempervivum tectorum (Hens and Chicks, Common Houseleek) Soon to be Hens and Chicks planter ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) A conundrum...any ideas on what this was originally? The shop owner said it came out of a barn, it's 23 inches long, 9 inches tall/wide and almost 2 inches thick. The brackets on one side are shorter than the brackets on the other side. Whatever it used to be, in my garden it will become one of the assorted items lining the garden path out front, standing as pictured. I might write something on it and have a couple of things in mind. But it was just too cool to leave behind and was only $6 What's it? It could be so many things: A shelf in a barn or outbuilding. A step to get into a wooden wagon? Jerry
Your unknown item looks like a wagon seat to me. Whatever it is, I'm anxious to see what you do with it. I can't get over your marvelous finds!
Great idea for the feeder... hens and chicks... I got it! :-D My first thought about the unknown item was a shelf too. But maybe a wagon seat. Hmmm... whatever it is... I like it! You always find the neatest things. Can't wait to see them being used in your garden.
Toni,I like your junk store finds. I'm nuts about this kind of stuff for the garden.I like old wash tubs & have several I plant in.Hubby has a collection of old watering cans.We live near an auction house where they have all kinds of neat stuff. It used to be the highlight of my week to paw through stuff there. I don't go anymore but hubby never misses. He has gotten me some really nice wrought iron plant stands on the cheap. Doris
