Does anyone collect old gardening books? At the antique show we were at last week I found a couple of interesting ones from the 1950's. The Wise Garden Encyclopedia and Women's Home Companion Garden Book. There are very few colored pictures but they is a wealth of knowledge in them.
I used to Polly but over the years they've been given away to new gardeners. As you say, they have a wealth of information in them that some of the modern books don't include any more.
Yes, Polly, I keep an eye out for them when I'm on one of my 'THRIFT STORE SAFARIS'. They do tend to have good info in them that you may not find in modern journals. Hank
I have a few old nature magazines from the 1930's. They have some interesting gardening articles. If I ever saw some old gardening books for sale somewhere, I'd be sure to snap them up!
I don't collect, but I do check them out at the library. If I ever find some I will buy them if they are informative.
nope, dont have any,got some of my moms old sewing books, but i have a ton of garden magazines, none very old though,,
I have some from my Grandpa on Violets and House plants. I haven't even looked at them since I started to garden . I've bought some. Tomorrow I'll get them out. Thanks for the reminder Polly. I'm loaded with old cookbooks.
I definitely collect them, on any aspect of gardening. Trouble now is I have all the ones I can afford and the ones I would love to have are way beyond my pocket. Mind I also collect modern books on gardening too. At the last count I have 16 metres of shelf space of Gardening books.
