One stem topped by many flower stems? I have ID-ed it!

    I found the weed...I know, it's in the front yard ;) ....but seriously I found my weed in a book and have IDed it.

    Conyza canadensis - Horseweed, Marestail, Horseweed Fleabane, Canadian Horseweed.

    It and Solidago (Goldenrod) are in the Asteraceae -Aster/Daisy/Sunflower Family so there is a family resemblance.

    Given the lack of rain and the heat up here, I am not taking out anything that will grow and bloom. I have been planning on going all Texas natives from now on so this is just one more that I already have in the garden. ;)

    You should have a bunch of them next year. Across the road from me they are as thick as bamboo in patches.

    If, as predicted, next summer is a repeat of last year and this year those will be pretty much the only things growing in my garden. ;)
