Hi all, We have a very old but very healthy PJM rhodie outside our back window. It must be 30 years old at least, and probably 8 feet tall by 6 feet wide. (2.43 meters by 1.8 meters wide). Very dense as well. I am trying to decide if I want to thin it out a bit. Maybe thin out the branches at its feet so you can see the limb structure a bit. And also see through it a bit. Please let me know what you think. Can you see the 2 rocks in the 1st 2 photos? It might be nice to be able to see them better
This site should help you out. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/rhododendron/pruning-rhododendrons.htm I trimmed mine back way too hard and it's taking years to recover. I would have been better reading how to do it before tackling it.
