Does your community have people use paper yard bags to put leaves and twigs into? These bags are suppose to decompose.
We do, I put out several during Spring clean up. I do have a compost system but sometimes there is just too much stuff to make it convenient. If you have ever left one of those bags sitting out in the yard for any length of time in rain and heat, you will find out pretty soon that the bottom certainly does decompose.
Our town has a compost site where you can take the bags and leave them. Toni, You are correct about the bottom of the bag.
The little town we moved to doesn't want the bags ....if you do put them in when you take your garden waste to the dumping area set up for it, you have to take your bag back home. We just put all of our garden waste in round bins and haul it that way. At the last place we lived, they do take the bags and they picked up your garden waste right in front of your yard....Not sure what people do if they don't have a truck or trailer...
Here at the composite site people do leave the bags with the debris. However, some people do empty the bags to reuse them.
