Recently I was informed that on a television program pink crocus bulbs were for sale. Are pink crocus rare?
I've never seen one either but here's the plant and it is rare and it's name is Crocosmia pottsii 'Culzean Pink' https://www.shootgardening.co.uk/plant/crocosmia-pottsii-culzean-pink Here's a list of rare Crocus plants. http://rarebulbs.lv/index.php/en/catalogue?start=200
The Culzean pink is stretching the definition of pink a long way, in my opinion. We have it and it is not what I call pink, just heading in that direction from orange.
Pink? I never heard of pink. If I saw any and they were expensive I would have to give it some serious thought. The Midnight Muncher(MM) is too good a hunter to leave a new batch of crocus alone. Except for yellow....MM leaves yellow alone. Is this a spring of fall crocus? Jerry
@Gail-Steman, Thank you for the link to rare crocus bulbs. I did not see that any orange crocus is rare.
As far as pink ish bulbs in Autumn are concerned, there are Colchicums which are often mistakenly called crocus. They are not in the same family even.
