Our cardinals have been active lately, and one landed in our Wafer Ash tree and posed for my husband's camera.

Isn't it wonderful when wildlife cooperates?

A lovely composition - that bright red against the autumn leaves. :)

That is such a lovely foto. It is a remarkable bird to see. Every time you post a pic of this creature, I call the Bride over and we look and chat about how lovely it is and that we have nothing like it here.
We have seen them over there when we were living and working there. We also think back to when we were travelling through Mexico and saw one in a cage, for sale, on a street market. The man took exception to us showing so much interest ... and when I wanted to take a foto we were escorted out of the area. I always wondered if anyone would ever buy such a wild bird.

Y’know Jane, the man also had a female cardinal there and I found that even more beautiful than the showy male.

That is a beautiful cardinal and such a privilege to have taken the photo. We usually get 3 or 4 pair of Cardinals in Winter, feasting at our feeder.

We need the splash of color the Cardinals bring in dreary winter.

Well our pigeons aren't quite as gorgeous as Jane's cardinals, but they are full of character - dopey birds

Yep, we've got hundreds of them. They need to do a lot of breeding, as they make such rubbishy nests the babies often fall out as they hatch - so the parents just seem to think ''oh well never mind, lets make some more''...
