    For 123 Henry:
I just cut back my butterfly bushes and then I choose a clipping that's near the top and pull off the lower side branches or leaves and shove them in the ground and then water them when I'm watering my veggie garden. I did this yesterday, in fact and when I went to stick in my newest ones, I noticed that the ones I put in this spring (maybe May) have flowers ready to open!! These things are little over a foot tall!! Then I also found a few that reseeded themselves in my other gardens 30 feet or more away!!
I hope this helps you Henry. Good luck! Caymanmama

yeah, a very easy to root shrub.
i have a white one and a very dar purple one.
my nephew, he's 12, saw the dark purple one in bloom and he wanted one too.
but he tore off a small twig with a bloom.
i thought the cuttings should not have blooms on them, but i still gave it a try.
had a small plastic cup, put some dirt in, made it wet and stuck the twig WITH THE FLOWER on, and still looks OK.
you should have no problem rooting them!
