Here is another flower that is a mystery to me. This one reseeded itself in the field that does not get mowed until late fall with the bush hog. I pull these out of my flower garden every year and never knew that it flowered until I discovered this one. I know it is a weed. I think from now on I will leave a couple of them in the flower bed as I think they are kind of pretty. At least I like it, and so do the bees! Anyone know what this is called? Looks like Sedum 'Autumn Joy' (Autumn Joy) click on blue link to see various photos....and definitely not a weed
:-o Usually we are wondering if a weed is a flower here in the plant ID forum, this weed is a flower! Sedum are tough drought tolerant, and do their bloomin thing in the Fall.
Gasp! You mean I have been mowing down and trashing a real flower. It settled itself here several years ago and I have been trying to get rid of it ever since. It won't give up. Looks like I will be taking care of it from now on. Thank you all for the information. Much appreciated.
I have these sedums in my garden and they are as tough as old boots Chrisle. Neither wonder yours kept coming back. Mine have even been buried under five feet of snow and are still going strong. :-D I love them as the add a nice touch of colour in late summer through into autumn.
I keep this plant in a pot (actually I have several pots of them ). The bees love them this time of year. The flowers are really showy against the foliage and best thing is if I forget to water they stay looking good. Very easy to care or plant, and easy to make starts. Just stick any pinched off pieces in the ground/pot in the spring through summer months.
