Question about harvesting new potatoes

    Just leave the plants attached and you have another two + weeks depending on the soil moisture ! 90 degrees is no biggie for potatoes if the soil does not get too wet ! Heat plus too much water = rot ! Think of the soil like your refrigerator vegetable bin !

    Hmmm...temps have dropped to the 70's but it is raining raining raining & forecast to rain for the next 4 days.

    Do you plant in a trench or hill ? The rain doesn`t hurt as long as it can dry out afterward ! Where you have rot is where it rains off and on for weeks on end and the planting area holds water and cant drain ! Thats why I plant literally on top of the ground ! Texas rains can be brutal ! But we are in sand and it drains well !

    I harvest them as needed for cooking, but at a certain moment, I just take the lot out and store them cool and dry.
