Lately I've been seeing everywhere those youtube videos where they "teach" you how to assemble your own free electricity generator. I normally wouldn't pay much attention to them but in the comment section you can see many people believing them. I'd think that with easy access to information/education with the internet and many devices, something I didn't have back then when I was in high school; the other day for example I was watching how my niece was getting instant help from this algebra 1 tutor service app which highly contrasts with my time back in high school people, would be more able to spot false information from people who are most likely just trying to monetize their channel. Energy bills are getting crazy for many so I guess that's why I'm seeing those videos. Personally, I've always been very energy conscious so so far I haven't seen a mayor increase in my bill, hopefully I can keep it that way through the winter :smt003

    Stay safe everyone!

Playing with electricity is fun. Loved doing it as a kid. Mine system wasn’t free but is enough with solar and batteries to make camping into glamping with lights, 12 volt frig and electronics.

There's also a video on Youtube that shows you how to make solar panels out of old CD's  As you say Don, total rubbish. I hit the report button if I see fake stuff like that.

But like Jewel says, solar is relatively cheap once you buy and set up the panels, controler and storage. We have a solar backup system. If the power goes off we've still got lights and can charge phones & batteries. We've even got an old laptop with a CD drive so we could watch a DVD if the power is off for a while :)

Actually, Zigs may have forgotten to mention, he decided to make a cooker as well - quite creative, I shall have to ask him if he has a photo of it for you to have a look..... give him a bag of cement and you never know what he'll come up with

    Getting back on topic.... :D

I've just found where I put the pic of our LED light strip, flick of a switch and this solar powered light comes on to light up our evening in a power cut. The strip cost about £5 and runs straight from the 12 volt batteries :)
