I made this arbor from old rebar I had laying around. I had to make something after the old apple tree died and came down in a storm. I mentioned how I made it under the caption in my garden. The rebar had been given to me, and I already had the old wire and the washing machine ring laying around, so the cost was FREE.

That is amazing. I did one out of rebar one year and it just didn't work well. I may try again..

Oh I love to see what others do for free. Your arbor is lovely.

I think you have to fasten the top together somehow so it stays together. I made the 4 U shapes, and they are upside down pushed way into the ground. That is why I used that old washer ring in the top of it, and fastened it to all 4 U shapes.

If you buy a boughten arbor, the prices can be very steep. My bench arbor was around $90 after about $40 knocked off for the sale price. I have a trumpet vine growing on it, because the apple tree that was there also died and fell over. I had tried to make a lumber arbor, but the wind knocked it over. The wind also knocked over my metal bench arbor, but I was able to weight it down with a few large and heavy rocks.

Wisteria vines are strong enough to hold the rebar arbor in place, plus the ends are down into the soil about 3 feet on each end.

I think it was taken with my Vivitar camera. I don't know how to download them from my son's cell phone. I did use the old version of Picture It Express to crop the photo, since newer photo programs do not decrease the KB/MB size of photos for me.
