On Sunday August 28th my dear 92 year old Mother went to be with Jesus. She did not want any funeral service, and chose to be cremated. So my brother and I are going to hold a Memorial meal with family and close friends in Oct. She out lived almost all of her friends, and I know that really bothered her. After she moved to Green Bay to be nearer to me she quite making friends because of that fact. One of her favorite card games at her Assisted living apt. was, Hand & Foot. She loved flower gardening, bird feeding, photography, and craft projects of all sorts, and animals. When we raised Fainting Goats she loved to come out and go with me and sit in the pasture while the kids climbed on us or slept in our laps. She also loved our little dog Tooty, and had several dogs of her own over the years. We always joked that I was her clone. Because of all the things that she was good at I also enjoyed doing. We also liked a lot of the same foods. Often when we would go out for lunch she would say I'll have what she is having. Going to Goodwill to find a great treasure was another one of our fun things to do. I am so glad she was my Mom. One thing she gave to all of her children was a love of watching a good thunder storm and lightening show. We would all sit together and ohh and awe and the light show. She has known a lot of loss in her life. Her parents died 2years apart by the time she was 13. Our dad died when I was 7,my sister was 4 and my brother was 3. She worked and raised us 3 kids pretty much all my herself. She remarried in 1972 by that time I was married and my sister and brother were in their late teens. Then my only sister died in 1994. My Moms only brother died in 2000. In 2002 her second husband, our step dad died. She was quite the independent woman with a will to survive. She even owned her own home. I miss her so very much. But know that I will see her some day in heaven and what a party we will have.

Sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. I smiled when I read she liked to play Hand and Foot. I played it last night. Two years ago I was on a bus trip. When we stopped for lunch, the bus driver noticed we needed a small repair to the bus. One of our fellow passengers had cards and asked if anybody wanted to play while the bus was being repaired. We had time to play a game. One person learned to play it in CO and one learned to play it in FL. We were from PA. It sounds like your Mother was a special lady. Don
I am so sorry to hear about your Mother passing. She sounds like a wonderful woman and a compliment for you to be known as her clone... It seems hard now but it will get better with time passing, I still think of my Mother often.
Sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I too, as a child, was comforted by my mother during a terrible thunder storm. Today I enjoy watching such storms and remember back to that moment so long ago. Jerry
