    Hello -

My mother removed an above ground pool from her yard a year ago, and a large sand pit is remaining where the pool once was. I will have some time to work on this in early November, but as someone who knows nothing about yard care I was hoping to get some tips from the pros.

I thought I'd dig up the sand (I know it'll be a LOT of work) and then wheelbarrow it away. But, how does one dispose of it? Just bring to the dump or can it be used for something else? Should I remove as much as possible or is it okay if a little bit remains?

Any tips for planting grass seed following this? Her home is on Long Island (just east of NYC). Is it okay to do this during the autumn months?

    Thank you!
