We cleaned , cut off most of the leaves and all of the tops on the tom plants. We harvested quite a few. Now we must face the music and turn them all into concentrate. They are almost too pretty to process.

I had better get a wriggle on, as the Bride is becoming imptient.

....and then, the final product. This took a long time to process—and the “sad” thing is the toms are nowhere near finished with giving.

I have no toms left. The second crop is just emerging from the flowers. I hope the weather holds. I would like to make such a pretty picture on my own counter in a month or so.

Oh mate, I am so jealous of the length and quality of your growing season. I shall be looking forward to your show-and-tell posting in the future.
Our growing season here is woefully short.

Bad summer in my yard for tomatoes this year. I put in several "large" type, they only spit out smallish-medium fruits.
One plant only produced THREE tomatoes! At least they are pretty cheep in the market right now.
Well done S on your harvest and canning.

Thanks 4G— How regrettable to hear how your tom year went. I think that it has been a less than optimal year for many gardeners this season. My tom successes were in the greenhouse, but even in there it hasn’t been like usual.
Mr D was right about that.

I'm doing the exact same thing right now! I picked a couple bushels of Amish Paste tomatoes and I have a load in the pressure canner as I write this. One more load of tomatoes to process and the rest went into the freezer for sauce at a later date. I love this time of year!

I don't grow a lot of tomatoes, only have them with salad once a week.

This year has been really good here for tomatoes. I grew large tomatoes outdoors and they are coming in nicely now. 57094AC6-DD44-4150-AD4D-97860206AEE0.jpeg

Netty—-Two bushels!! I can barely remember the size of a bushel, but I do recall that it was large. My goodness me, you must have had oodles to process. Show some pictures of your work please.

On the one hand, I would love to have so much, but on the other, I don’ t have room to keep it. Haha. I am enormously happy for you.

Great-looking toms, Odie. The Bride was impressed as well.

    Thanks, Loggie.
