That’s a invasive species here. It is hard to eliminate taking over in many areas. The state has adopted an extensive program to eliminate them the past several years and haven’t seen many around. did you know when the seed pods explode they can fly off many yards away and if caught in a wind current can fly for miles.
We have those here too and they do have a lovely scent. It's such a pity that they can become so invasive so quickly.
Sorry for anyone who has this shrub as an invasive pest in their area. I live in a rugged part of New Mexico where it is a very tuff struggle to get much of anything to grow I also love the chineesr wisteria which I have heard is invasive in some parts of the country. I don't have it but would sure like. Happy gardening everyone.
I like them too! They have moved out of gardens here in the south, but it seems it's not extremely unwanted since the plant nurseries still sell them. Since we've got some growing on an empty plot next door I have access to the scent when I feel like it. The Wisteria is not invasive here, it barely survives in gardens and needs lots of care. If it thrives, however, it grows like a rocket, or so I've heard.
