    I have that one too. It does return yearly.
    Is it devils claws?

    Now here was me looking for American plants when it seems to be a South African one, at least that is the Devil's Claw plant I know, Harpagophytum procumbens.

    This is the problem with using colloquial names instead of Latin. Devil's Claw in the USA is Proboscidea louisianica, which is what this plant is.
    Devils' Claw can also be used for other plants, Urtica dioica for one.

    I looked at both of the plants listed above and mine is definitely the USA one. The other one is a vine.
