Never lacking for clientele, the Suet Restaurant does have limited seating. ( photo / image / picture from Jerry Sullivan's Garden ) In the summer suet cakes last 2 days if that. Downey woodpeckers with the occasional Hairy and Red bellied find their summer snacks ready and waiting. The occasional standoff is inevitable however, if they are not willing to share. We have the same problem with our suet feeders. Sometimes it's bluejays that are sitting on them. I haven't seen a bluejay for a week or so now. Maybe they moved on since it's gotten so hot and humid. Mostly we have cardinals though and chickadee's. We have a squirrel or two and a rabbit, too. They all seem to share and I guess they all need to eat. Cats are NOT invited though. dooley
How great to have a variety of woodpeckers! Jerry, I am envious. Our suet is basically for the chickadees, occasional finch, and cardinals. A suet cake will last a week or more--we are also feeding black oil sunflower seeds in a platform feeder, and a "wild bird mix" in a hanging feeder. Our birds are fat, and presumably happy!
Easy, reservations can be had for a song. Jerry P.S. Of course you have to be able to sit on a small branch, to sing for your supper. However, no singing after dark, unless you like to whooo whooo whooot. P.S.S For desert we have berries graisse de rognon.
