I currently have a desktop, but am thinking about getting a laptop the next time I need to get a new computer. My son has both and likes the laptop better than the desk top.
I have a desktop that I wouldn't swap for a laptop BUT my husband is the exact opposite. I suppose it all depends on what you want to use it for. If the specs reach your requirements then most folks would pick a laptop over a desktop I think.
I would prefer laptop / netbook as they can do everything a desktop can go (besides gaming) and are mobile to boot. All work (code, graphics etc...) for GardenStew is created on a small Asus netbook.
I had 3 desktops one for my hubby, daughter and myself. They were 14 years old and too very old to update anything anymore. We just got my hubby and me a laptop for each of it about 2 months ago. I have an external memory and, of course, a printer in the closet. I just love it. I can drag it anywhere I want to. I am a happy camper.
I have a desktop and have no interest in having a laptop. Their keyboard, being flat, is difficult for me to type on. Randy has a laptop for personal use and one for work. Our youngest daughter has both a desktop and a laptop. Shoot, even our TV has it's own laptop
I have both, and I use the desktop much more often. It doesnt help that the battery on the laptop only lasts maybe 20 mins when unplugged :/ (and I dont want to cough up the money for a new battery right now)
We have one desktop, which I approach with trepidation (I'm not very "computer literate"). I like the fact that it sits there waiting for me to use it. I don't want a computer that can follow me around! Heck, I don't even like my cell phone, and leave it in the house while I'm gardening or communing with the chickens. Perhaps I'm a "Luddite"?
We have 3 desktop at home, one for Becky, one for me and one more is used as a media center connected to a big screen LED TV with a home theather system and is also connected to a hifi set. Desktop is my choice because of the flexibility of upgrading and big screen and comfort. I used to have a laptop when I was working but it was rather frustrating when the battery runs out, no wifi hotspot when you need to connect, the keyboard is small, screen size is limited and it gets heavier and heavier to carry around. Anyway it got stolen and I was kind of a relief that it did!!!
We have 3 laptops and 2 desktops. My wife and I each have a laptop which are used daily. The 'house' desktop is used for appointments and record keeping and if on and convenient, answering general questions on google. An ancient and honorable desktop occupies a spot on a desk in the lower labyrinth and still holds technical information useful in a workshop. The remaining laptop was recently replaced as it's DVD/CD drive had failed. It still has however, software that has yet to be upgraded and so serves a purpose. Jerry
We have a desktop but I would like a laptop someday. We do need two of them so dr and I don't have to wait in line. dooley
I have a desk top. I have MY spot in the corner of the living room where I have my desk and that is where you can find me after dinner. I like that everything I need is all in one spot and I have no need to have anything portable. If I have to do anything away from home I can do it on my iPhone.
Sis! I don't much like technology. It is handy at times, but........ that doesn't mean I have to like it.
Just a laptop here. Minimal technology in our home. I am always leaving my cell phone behind, why I recall the days when we didn't have, or need them. Another Luddite ? maybe...
