The Giant Swallowtails love our zinnias, and since the zinnias are just outside our kitchen door, we get to see a lot of swallowtails.

If it weren't for the butterflies, birds, wild flowers, roses, cats, hens, vegetables, etc. we'd go live in a condominium!

    Nice close-up Jane.

I listen to the birds wake up in the morning and look forward to the first to arrive at the feeders. The only thing I heard at 4 O'clock when we were in the city was the blare of an irritated driver's horn. I'll take a bird chirp over a horn any day.
I don't think butterflies are early risers.

Jerry, I wake up to bird calls (my husband wakes up earlier to the calls of cats that want breakfast), and we watch the birds at the feeders while having morning coffee. We occasionally see a deer bound across the pasture, and watch the cows in our neighbor's pasture wander about, and the calves play.
I agree, bird chirping is preferable to almost any man-made sound!

    Such a lovely swallowtail foto.
Your description of taking the morning coffee sounds idyllic.
