I had promised to do a thread with some butterfly pics taken in the Butterfly House in the Hortus Botanicus. They had a smallish glass house with some tropical plants and oodles of butterflies floating around. The little glass house was constantly full of people. I suppose that with many of the blooming plants past the sell-by date outside the visitors concentrated their attention on the colourful Lepidopterians. I will begin with one of the most remarkable butterflies in the house. It was smallish, but its transparent wings made it especially interesting. OMG! I may just lay down on the floor and convulse. Wow! Wow! Wow! I think I need the first one added to my tattoo. That one is splendid. Great photos.
Thanks for your comments, Ware. I wonder how that first one would turn out as a tattoo. I really enjoyed the variety of butterflies in the enclosure, but it is late fall, and I can only imagine what it is like in the summer. I shall have to return one day and see. Anyway, I'm glad that you liked the posting.
What a really lovely selection of photographs Sjeord. Now I really, really have to come over to Holland again to see all the things you have seen.
You are welcome, DONNA. Come on over, EILEEN. I am glad that you enjoyed looking at them, 2OF--Thanks for the compliments. Yeah CHERYL--I thought that it was pretty special as well. I really wanted to catch one and handle it, but restrained myself. I mean, it looked so beautiful and peculiar, I just wanted to examine it more closely.
I love your pic's. Last year we went to Mackinac Island in Michigan. They had a butterfly house that was pretty large. We so enjoyed all the different species we saw and had land on us. We really enjoyed it.
Thanks 2-T. Butterfly houses really are special places. I am always so amazed at the beauty of those insects.
Tooty2, we went to the butterfly house on Mackinac several years ago and spent hours in it. It truly was magical.
I do like your photos of such a great subject....such beautiful butterflys. Thank you for sharing Sjoerd...
You are most welcome, Sherry. I agree that butterflies are a great subject. We see so few here in comparison with locations in other countries, so they are very interesting to me.
