Popping in to say hello! I’ve had my nose in the dirt and keeping busy getting everything planted, and things the way I want them. It changes every year, when I get the latest bright idea.
My weather is still a crazy roller coaster of warm and mild to raging wind to hot to chilly cloudy and rainy with threats of severe weather on and off.
The rain sure has been welcome!
    Happy Gardening everyone!

Kay good to see you posting. The weather has been having melt downs in a lot of states this year. Flooding , tornados, snow, thunder storm w/lightening and heavy winds .
Hope to hear more about your garden this season. Stay well and keep your nose in the dirt. :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 9°C and overcast with rain showers. This is day 3 of rain, and I'm over it. The yard is a big wet mess. I was counting on this weekend to be nice so I could finally get some work done in the yard. I may just have to don the rainsuit and get to work anyway. Veggies need planted, flower beds need edging and weeding and I have a bunch of perennials and annuals that need planted. PLUS I'm going to be a mechanic today, and change the belt on the mower deck of my zero turn. It has 3 big cracks in it and is going to break so I'm going to attempt to put a new one on. Doesn't look that hard to do, and theres a diagram right on the deck to follow. I just need to loosen the spring and put the belt on as shown... can't be too hard, right? Hubby did teach me a few things through the years, so I'm feeling confident.
    Another busy day!
@Sjoerd I bought a new sofa, loveseat and chair for our living room. We were WAY past due! Delivery will be Thursday :)

Kayyyyyyy— how in the world are you?! Great to see you again. You must be very busy. You are such a hard worker.

Netty— good luck with that belt change. You got this, mate.
Ahhh. The sofa sounds nice to me. I hear you about using things past their due date. I am like that too.

Sending good vibes for changing the belt on your mower. Kudos. :smt023
I have depended on you tube for helping out with mower and tool maintenance lately. Learning how to change the oil and filters is a snap. It’s getting the factory tightened oil filter off I can’t manage to wiggle in the slightest. It’s still under warrantee so sending the rider mower off for tune up next week. Since last May 2024, I put on 197 miles on that mower. I bet every screw and bolt needs tightening and greasing the moving components as well as a good cleaning under the deck compartment where the muck and debris build up. I clean it after each use but …. Stuff happens…:chuckle:

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 9°C and overcast.
Well, it rained almost all day yesterday but i managed to work through the light rain and get 2 gardens ready, split a few perennials, and get the belt changed on the zero turn. It wasn't hard to do and I also greased it and checked the oil and filters. Now if it ever stops raining I'll be able to cut the grass.
Today is food prep, laundry folding and then out to the garden to hopefully get some crops planted.
Have a great day all :)

Netty— you are a busy bee, you are.
Oh that working in the rain— I have done that. Not really a pleasant experience, and certainly not a clean one…what with all the mud and so forth.
Sometimes we just HAVE to because Nederland is simply a wet country.

But, you have other things to do this afternoon. Fingers crossed for you today.

BTW— how did the belt change go?

Good Monday morning all. Currently 8°C and overcast. At least it isn't raining.
Up bright and early to head over to my daughter and son in laws house. Its BABY DAY! My daughter is getting induced this morning, so DD and I are going over to watch the grandkids today. This is their fourth and final child, and I am so excited to bring a new life into this family!
It went perfectly, good to go! Now it just needs to stop raining and dry up out there!
Have a great day all :)

Wonderful news for you and your family!
We are having a regular "frog strangler" of a storm, so no outside work today except to feed the hens. Since our electricity is unreliable, I won't be baking so I guess the only thing left is to relax! A lot of Memorial Day plans have been put on hold but not ours since we didn't have any.
    Happy Monday, y'all!

I’ve (almost) gotten my planting done. A new Ruby Slippers Hydrangea joined the garden Saturday. Pretty blooms and looking forward to the fall color on it.
I do have a new arrival coming this week; a Fairytrail Cascading Hydrangea I ordered online. I’m looking forward to adding that to my front entry. we just refreshed the front porch with new paint on the doors, new black hardware and a new light fixture. I’m happy with the simple changes.
I also gave fun doing “decor” things with garden stuff collected over the years.
I am having a bit of an issue posting pics again. Had it figured out, but now same old issue. I’ll keep trying.
    Onward into the garden!

Ough !! That is just what I was thinking of buying:
Ruby Slippers Oakleaf hydrangea !! I have a spot where my buddleijas got decimated by root knot nematodes and those little buggers don't bother hydrangeas. Thanks for mentioning this plant. I wanted a pinkish and white oak leaf for that spot !! :D

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 8°C and clear.
I feel like I've been hit by a bus today. Busy day with the grandkids, then I snuck home to check on the dog and cut the grass. I got almost the entire yard cut and trimmed, then back to the grandkids where they had me hopping right up until their bedtime at 7pm. It wasnt until 10 pm that we got the news that baby had arrived (details tomorrow!) and we didn't get home until 2am. My alarm for work went off at 5am and here I am having my coffee before my dog walk. It might feel like a really long day! Totally worth it :)
