Hi all. I'm broken. I don't know if I'll be on here. My spirit is whipped. I have nothing good or uplifting anymore. Thanks for letting me into your little community

ohhh —lourd…is it Saturday already…yikes the summer is going by so fast.

@Netty Yikes to see a bear in your tree line while outside working in your garden last night is a huge scary moment. And you even tried to snag a pic… that would have been a good pic , and a brave thing…but I would have slowly turned around and skedaddelled to the safety of a nearby building. Do keep your eyes pealed when out and about especially around dusk.

I’ve noticed a lot more predators around here lately as the forest department has sent out notifications to keep trash locked up and no bird feeders . So far this summer I’ve been fortunate not to spot bear scat in this pastures. But as the summer begins to dry out areas up higher above the canyon and crops mature , the animals are coming from the mountains closer and closer to near by pastures growing alfalfa, corn, hay and other juicy crops.

    it’s always something.:fingerscrossed:

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 22°C and overcast. Its going to be another hot one today.
Yesterday was good and hot, and we ended up having a lovely thunderstorm in the afternoon that cooled it down. It also saved me lots of work watering the garden!
I got a lot of work done in the morning, and spent the afternoon cleaning and then swimming in the pool. About as close to relaxing as I have ever been haha
Made some potato salad using garlic scapes from the garden ... my absolute favourite way to use them.

Columbiariver, I agree that sometimes life can be overwhelming. On those days I just take it a step at a time and try to find things that can lift me up. Coming here to Gardenstew helps, and my gardens are good therapy too. Sometimes too much alone time can make it hard so try to surround yourself with good people. Life can be so good if we let it be!
Have a great day all :)

Today was going to be a fishing day, but Hubby is a bit tired so it will be a home day. Two days ago we went fishing and he caught two 15 lb lake trout. ( he's says they were fifteen lbs as that was his maximum allowable lifting. hmmmmmm sounds fishy. ) One was filleted and frozen for chowder this winter. (They are an oily fish. ) The other is brined and will be smoked and canned today. We don't have salmon where we live, so to catch two trout this big was pretty exciting.

Angus did the funniest thing. He's buried squirrels before, but he decided he should bury one of the fish. Keeping in mind that he hates getting wet, he was blowing bubbles trying to cover up the trout. Then he would bump it, all of the gravel would fall off and he'd start over again. What a ham.

I took pictures with my feet to give context.
This one had a fish inside...of the fish.

We have had lows of 4 C the last few days, so once the world warms up I will be harvesting some Haskaps, and hopefully some weeding and mowing. The raspberries and memory garden are desperate for a weeding, but also so full of bees that it is a delicate act of impeccable timing to weed before they thrive in the warmth of the day, and also so that the weeder (me) does not grab onto a sleeping bumble or honey bee. I'll make a point of some photos today. :)

I'll get some outdoor pictures this afternoon. But for now there's this. My first tattoo happened last week. I have represented the Columbia river where I've lived my entire 67 years, a one sided Doug fir that's been blasted by east winds and a tiny bird which is how my mom addressed me in her notes as my nick name is bird.
    Completely painless btw

@Melody Mc. What a wonderful day fishing! Beautiful photos. The water is so inviting. Those trout are almost big enough to be steelhead. Enjoy!

Good Monday morning all. Currently 22°C and clear
Nothing stinks worse than a Monday morning after an awesome weekend. The alarm went off at 4 am and I just wished I could hit rewind of the weekend.
Yesterday I had a visit from my oldest friend and we had such a good time. Our parents were best friends when we were growing up, and we spent every summer together since we were born, up until we were married and had kids. It was so good to see her!
Today, its back to work in the heat. Yuck.
Have a great day all :)

Thank you Columbiariver. Your tattoo looks nice. Did you design it?

Today is a warm day for us but not as hot as it is for many, that is for sure. We will be inside after lunch time. We smoked and canned the fish yesterday. So tasty :)

I'm off shortly to hang our bedding on the clothes line and then tackle some more weeds.

@Netty - that sounds like such a wonderful visit. UGH to 4 am and heat. I recently reconnected with my first and oldest friend as well. She is coming to visit for a weekend in August. I'm so excited to catch up with her. She is excited to get into my raspberry patch. hahaha

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 19°C and clear.
Yesterday turned out to be as bad as expected. Nothing went right from the get go. Then I got word that a friend had passed away and that was the end of it. Spent part of my day contacting next of kin etc Sad sad day.
I'm going to do my best to break out of the mood I'm in today and get some work done.
Have a great day all :)
