    Looks to be a fine example of a red tailed hawk. Or what my father always called a "chicken hawk". Looks to be a fairly young one. Maybe a year old. I have seen them here with close to a 6 ft. wing span.

    Yes it is a red tailed hawk (the most common here). I don't know why it was there and yet stayed while I took the pics. I wondered the same thing, but yet I couldn't help him even if I wanted to. I figure let nature take its course. Thank you all for your admirable comments which are always appreciated.
