Today my family and I got a very special opportunity to take part in an annual event called "The Secret Garden Walk". There were 6 locations that took part in it. Basically the home owners would open their property to the public for all to see their beautiful flower gardens. I took lots of pictures and a few video walk throughs. We had a great time and I got alot of ideas as well. Enjoy

    Very nice!
I was on a garden tour 2 weeks ago and saw some amazing gardens. I came home very inspired!
Another tour coming up on July 28th, I can't wait!

In the Northeast US, July 28th is a very late date for a garden tour.Usually gardens are looking tired and worn by then. Not so in Ontario?

A delightful selection of blooming plants you have shown us...very nice water feature too. Great placements and stunning colours were on show with the Secret Garden Walk. I'm jealous.

You are right about this sort of "open day" beihg good for ideas. That pretty Lysimachia clethroides is so lovely to see. I had that plant once but it was a terrible bully and became so invasive that I had to remove it. I did that 6 years ago and I still have it. I can only suggest that you think twice before adding this lovely thing to your garden at home.

I'm in SE Wisconsin and it's peak season around here. There were a few areas that were done blooming, but over all everything is in full bloom.

My favorite specimens were the Centaurea Montana and the allium. The allium were done blooming but the skeleton it leaves behind is something out of this world.

This is the allium. Looks so cool.

Wow, it's a rare treat to visit gardens that would otherwise be closed to visitors. Great flowers!

And @Northerner You can hold a newspaper behind your Allium and spray paint it purple or even gold and you will have an extra variety for the summertime. l did that a few years ago and the girls in the garden club who came on the garden tour that year were in stitches when I told them my little secret....They just were thinking that mine bloomed a little later then all the of theirs...

Also we had 3 banana trees bloom and produce bunches of bananas a few years ago...here are the flowers. They were the small bananas but we put them in the greenhouse and had bananas for almost a year...

That's a clever idea. Now that allium is a giant allium, right?

@Sjoerd I had the same experience with the lysimachia clethroides. Thug is a good word. Such a shame because it is such an interesting flower.

@waretrop what a great idea, painting the alliums! I shall keep that in mind!
    Banana looks great.

Nice pictures Northerner....I see they were hummingbird lovers with the red fountain for them. I donated my red fountain to the thrift store, just not anyone using it.

I gave up on alliums, I love them but they spread so much and it was too hard cleaning them out every spring. I would recommend painting them to everyone or if you don't cut the seed heads off or you will have problems like I did.
