** They are Primrose

    Im thinking the yellow ones are primroses am i right, i dont know the white ones thanks poppy

    Yup, Primula. Ours are just starting, and I can't wait to bury my nose in them. :D

    I think they are both varieties of Primula.

    Both of your primula are lovely Poppy - mine are all flowering at the moment too. :-D

    And the white flowers are all what is known as 'pin eyed'. The other type of primrose flower is called 'thrum eyed'. Pin eyed becasue if you look at the middle of the flower you can see a pin head. In the other the centre of the flower is hollow. They actually need both types of flower for seeds to be formed by the way. The primrose is on the way to becoming single sexed with male flowers on one plant and female on another.

    I didnt' realize they would get that big and lush. Very pretty. I've only seen the little potted variety that is sold in the Spring, more like temporary houseplants.
