Friday morning we had a coyote trotting along the back fence row, just on the other side of the tree line. He was looking for mice, birds, cats and anything he could find for breakfast. Our cats were all on the back porch. The coyote did fine until he came to the place where we dump the used cat litter. He stopped, sniffed it and took off across the field. Evidently it wasn't too appealing smelling! :)

Coyotes must be more discriminating than dogs. Every dog we've had seems to want to roll in it!

Years ago when one of our dogs (not the ones we have now) got sick and started having seizures...the first thing that they asked at the dog hospital was if the dog got into the cat droppings...not a good thing for them to get into and it is known to cause seizure... I wouldn't blame the critter for taking off, I hate the smell of the liter box too...

Have been having trouble with cougars at the cabin...maybe your coyote has had a close call with a larger kitty?
