The world of botany is rife with people creating Petunia hybrids...hybrids are the ones with the warning that "they may not come true from seed" ...these didn't drop seed yet, just new blooms on the same plant. I bought these striking Gold with Blackish purple rimming the petals. April.... the amount of blackish purple varies from flower to flower. ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) In late April I noticed that some of the new blooms had very little to almost none of the blackish purple... Same plants but where is the blackish purple? ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Yesterday I found this mutant on the plant.. 4 different colorations on same plant ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I wouldn't mind having more of the mottled ones though.
I actually like when a plant changes the way yours are doing. I think the mottled one is very pretty. I wonder what any new blooms that appear will look like?
