Lucky you nothin that interesting in my area. Looks like sandstone rock with something ancient held in side . Plz curious minds want to know, what’s inside?
It's a Medieval floor tile. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17765391...405&gbraid=0AAAAADA7Q_JK9BtM01Yl1uw7BeHMhdijw I dug a few up in the garden, looks like when the Victorians ripped the floor out of the church they dumped all the rubble in the garden
I guess they didn’t have heavy equipment to bury deep enough like today or ship their garbage to other countries back then. I think that was a good thing.
Yep, everything dumped locally until recently. I used to go bottle digging when I was a Ziglet, the barges would dump stuff on the floodplains by the river and then that would be covered up in the winter floods. The layer I used to dig to was about 6 feet down. Full of bottles and ceramic pots. Used to sell them for good money back in the 1970's but then the market got saturated (everyone started digging ) I found the remains of a Victorian catalogue that was still readable, also a china doll's head. Oh, and a bone toothbrush handle that was marked with the name of the local chemists shop
OPPS .. For some reason the link didn’t work in the US. Did you catalogue all your finds over the years .
Aah, ebay thought you wouldn't want a UK one He's one on Etsy, see if that works... https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/431...wd_jsqVOE4v26xVg9h9EDQEIc5QHS2vxoCQ6IQAvD_BwE I have got some catalogued but on an old computer. I'll take some pics tomorrow and start a new thread, actually, I could do that now with a couple then add some more when I've done them
