I stopped by a place near work that sells Antiques, Collectibles (and some junk). I went in looking for something to use as a plant stand to replace where the old wheelbarrow was sitting (it rusted so bad it had to be tossed). I found this old chair. old chair ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) On my way out, I spotted this stand and decided it needed to come home with me too since I already had some paint that would be perfect for it. old stand ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) I knew that it would be used for the birds... either a bird bath or a feeder. Since I have several bathing areas for them, I decided to use it for feed. And of course, I'd have to put a plant there too, right? I poked some holes in it so the water would drain and placed some screen to help keep the seeds from falling out and a rock to keep it from blowing over.
Wow, I have 4 just like that plus the table to boot. I should set them out in the grass this next Summer. Usually I have them sitting in front of the greenhouse on the brick patio. Very nice choice.....
How come I never find neat things like you do? I love them both Cheryl and hope you'll let us see them again once you've worked your magic on them.

I haven't made up my mind yet if I want to paint the chair just yet. I really like the color it is now. I guess if I ever find some light blue spray paint, I'll give it a makeover. Thanks!

Sjoerd... so glad you mentioned that planter. It needs a new resident. Oh boy... I get to shop for another plant.
Chery I also love both of them. What some great finds. I like the bird feeder you made out of the stand. I was thinking you could put a bigger pot saucer on top as a rain guard. You could use some kind of metal rod that is threaded at both ends or complete threaded. Drill a hole in the saucer, put a nut on the end before you put it threw the hole in the saucer. That way it has a way of staying up. Then put a small rubber washer over the rod and snug it up to the saucer base then put on another nut and tighten. It would look like you have an umbrella over your feeder and the seed would stay dry. Not sure I could put that cute chair outside though. But that is just me.
Well, I don't know how but I missed these photos back in January I really like the idea of making that stand into a feeder/planter. Good finds.
Tooty... I only put enough food for a couple of days, so I'm not concerned about the food getting wet. But I'll have to keep your idea on hand. Thanks everybody!
