This plant is found near water such as cricks and streams. It can grow up to about 8 ft tall as far as I have seen it. The plant looks similar to a sunflower plant in that the stalk is very similar. I have not seen the plant flower in the past at all, in fact not sure that it flowers... The leaves come out of the stem and have almost like a sucker coming from just above the plant. the leaves look similar to a motherwort, however the plant is not the same and does not have the flowers. It also looks slightly similar to a giant ragweed, but it seems to be a mix of all of these plants. any ideas?? moderator's note: added a more descriptive title to topic
actually it also has two types of leaves, the leaves on the lower leaf branch have 5 lobes and the leaves on the upper have leaves somewhat similar to the sassafrass with the tri-lobed leaves...
Hi Trena, please let us know where you are as plants can be different in different parts of the world. Also a photo is worth a 1000 words, as they say.
i am in Southern Ontario and the plant can be found near rondeau provinial park. I will have a picture soon. I do not have the plant here at home. Will get one as soon as possible.
