    Hi Pinkiered,
    The easiest way to save seed from coneflowers, is to let the expired bloom turn dark and dried out. Then while holding the stem, tap the dried head on a hard surface. The seeds from your rudbeckia, which should be black and thin, will pop right out. From there I usually let them dry out for a few more days on an aluminum plate before storing.
