This is our living room. It is very long , narrow, has a corner fireplace, and has no wall space due to patio door on one side and powder room, then laundry room doors and entry on the other. Any ideas on how to arrange furniture and TV would be greatly appreciated!

    What furniture do you have?

Is the tv wall mountable, or does it need to sit on a piece of furniture? It looks like your only choice, at this point would be to put the tv on the short wall between the fireplace and bathroom.
My first reaction would be to position the couch parallel to the fireplace about where the laundry room doors are. My other thought is to position it so it cuts the room about in half, if you have a couch. If you just have chairs, you might have an easier time.

We are using what furniture we have on hand for now, BUT, plan on purchasing new in the future. The area which we currently use as an office area is really not used much at all. I was thinking of taking out the desk/hutch etc. and putting a round table in that area which would be of better use. I found some pics I have of how I have it set up currently. I also have placed the sofa so that it does divide the room in two as you suggested, but I find on the angle it looks more inviting.

I would switch the couch, coffee table with the chair, eliminate the tiny chair, it looks out of place. Add some color with an area rug, or throws and pillows ect. It looks too much the same,,same heights, same colors. Everything is on the same level. Add some tall plants, lamps or something around the fireplace. The office area would look better if you did replace all that stuff with a round table and chairs, use the desk/hutch somewhere else and a larger art piece on that wall. And the TV would look better if it was on a more substantial piece of furniture. Perhaps you could redo the desk hutch and make it an entertainment center.

    Hello Mart

The door to the bathroom must open to where the TV stand currently is, and that is about the only size that will fit there. We had a tall and narrow TV hutch on that wall, but it looked very bulky & awkward next the fireplace.

What if you placed 2 comfy chairs that can swivel in front of the fireplace (& possible TV viewing area), and then swivel them to turn to the far wall where you would have a sofa placed. That way you can enjoy a fire or TV watching, but still have a conversational area for company. I would also go with chairs that look lighter, less bulky in the middle of the room, but that is just my preference.

You're right, the angle is more inviting.
I am thinking that you might be better off with two chairs instead of a couch and chair. Also, if it is possible to mount the tv, you might make the room look bigger by doing that, and free up some space so you don't have a constant line of things, at the same level, on every wall of the room.

Definitely would suggest mounting your TV which will free up quite a bit of space and allow you to have more options when buying new furniture. Also, the idea of two chairs versus a sofa is good too. You could also do a love seat instead of a full size sofa and then you'll have room for another chair. Would again agree with the above that you should have fun with the decorating and add some fun colorful accents to the room. Maybe look at more neutral sofas which will open up the room and make it feel larger than it actually is.
