Yesterday we were watching the pond, and we had a Big Blue Heron and a white Egret come in at the same time. Big Blue took umbrage and started to chase (albeit slowly) the egret, who turned around and started walking after Big Blue. BB got second thoughts, turned around, and they paraded up and down the pond's shore.

Nice! I love to see Blue Herons here, but I have never seen a white Egret. Impressive birds!

Well done you getting both birds in the same shot. I'm so pleased that your pond is now coming to life the way you wanted it to.

Hi. Happy to say that we also do get Egrets along the main rivers - I saw them regularly along the Colne near Colchester/Wivenhoe. Here we call them Little Egrets but are also white and possibly the same bird - are they?. Have some really good camcorder film of one working in the water but it was put onto VHS tape originally ( years ago) and I have no means of getting single pics from it or I could send some. Nice birds. Syd.

Moral of the story - face your problems head on and they will cease to be. Well done to the white egret.
MG I found it amusing that birds can also take umbrage.

Hi Frank,. Birds can and do certainly take umbrage - as also can Butterflies gentle creatures that they are. Syd.
