Taking Ron away for the weekend. He's been very stressed at work and also helping his daughter every spare moment to renovate the interior of her tiny house. Way too much going on and so I booked us at this adorable airbnb that we've both been drooling over for months. She's been booked WAY in advance, but it just so happened that she had a cancellation this w/e and so I jumped on it, and we're going to have a relaxing weekend canoeing, grilling steaks, basking in the warmth from the fire pit, C&R fishing, sleeping in, and generally unwinding!

Click through these pictures! I know that this kind of getaway isn't for everyone but for us it's perfect!

......Isn't for everyone???? Oh my Ronni it's MY kind of place without a doubt. I'm sure Ron will de-stress once he gets there and will recharge his batteries in no time. I can see why it's always so booked up. So pleased they had a cancellation at just the right time for you both.

Looks perfect to me too!! A few years ago our oldest daughter gave us a 3 day weekend in an old Air Stream down in south Texas and a few years before that she gave us a weekend in a Yurt in west Texas. Those are the perfect type of getaways.

LOL. Eileen, I've had several people tell me it's waaaaaaay too tiny for them to be able to enjoy any time there. I guess if I were staying there with a family it might be a bit confining, but it's just Ron and me. Plus a good part of the draw of the place is the surrounding scenery and amenities. We don't plan to be spending much time indoors. The weather is supposed to be perfect! High 50's/low 60's, partly sunny, cool nights, so it's perfect dressing in layers, and heading out for fishing or hiking, lazing around on the lake in the canoe, sitting on the deck during the day and around the fire at night! THAT is far more the draw for us than the interior of the camper! Though the bed IS supposed to be super comfortable ;)

No way, nuh-uh, I'm gonna get him out on the lake soon as we get there!! ;):p

Seriously though, things like paddling around on the lake, kayaking, hiking, that sort of thing, ARE very relaxing for us both. Helps us unwind..so I'm guessing as soon as we get there he's at LEAST going to want to take at least a small hike around the area. I'm all for that!!

Oh Man Toni!!! I have ALWAYS wanted to stay in a yurt! We almost did, too...several months ago. But it was just a one night trip and we knew we couldn't do it full justice and really enjoy it, so we shelved it for another time! But some day you're gonna see pictures on here of Ron and me in a yurt!!! ;)

    Some highlights from our trip.

"Old Delina Country Stor" There's a small restaurant inside too. The ambience was amazing!!

    We went fishing!!

I decided I was gonna need a LOT more alcohol before I was going to be able to bait my own hook!! And as copious amounts of alcohol and sharp fish hooks don't mix too well, I was thankful Ron took care of that for me!

I caught a sunfish!! After I thanked it for letting me catch it, I said goodbye and released it back into the water.

Hi @Ronni thanks for sharing your pic's mate and it looked like you both had a nice relaxing time :like:..like yourself never been able to hook up for fishing so the old mans had to do it as wearing spec's constant does my head in...hubby does a cage contraption for me with false sweet corn.

The "Old Delina Country Store" looks like something out of and old country and western.

In all hows your head :snicker:

Nice looking fish Ronni but I'm glad you let it go again. Love the old, wrecked car but not the best advert for Texaco is it? ;) I'm really happy that you both enjoyed your time together relaxing and having fun.

I really enjoyed seeing your foto's. How far away from N'ville is this place? It looks like a great place. Is that a fishing pond or part of a lake?

Sjoerd, it's a large pond. That dock in the center of the picture is where we were fishing from, and the camper in the background to the left of the dock is where we stayed.

It's not quite 1.5 hours from Nashville...most of it a lovely drive, even though it's freeway for 3/4's of the way, through beautiful hilly, treed country scenery. It gets even more scenic when you get off the freeway for the last 15 miles, most of that through picturesque country settings.

Oh...I see. I thought for a minute that you may have been at a place somewhere out on Old Hickory Lake. hahaha....but that would not have been far enough away, right.

The distance doesn't matter. But we wanted something secluded, and Old Hickory Lake is just too urban, for want of a better word. Most of the places you can stay on Old Hickory Lake, through Airbnb for example, are very lovely, but also side by side with other lovely homes or cabins, docks and water areas. We wanted seclusion, not because we're typically anti social, ;) but just because we both are constantly surrounded by people...clients, family etc. and getting away from noise and people and busy-ness to something restful and serene was paramount.

I hear that! Quiet and calm is very important. I appreciate it more with every year. It's one reason I have a lottie. So yes...seclusion, I totally get. It looks like you found the right place. It sounds like you may have to completely escape and book a trip to Europe one of these days.
