Pizza tonight. I made the shell yesterday while it was cool in the house. Pepperoni, mushroom, and Aruba Peppers with garden tomato sauce.

Sounds good to me, Mel. It is always special when one can use one’s own garden produce in their food.

I made a bell pepper pasta sauce since they were stacking up in the fridge. I made a tomato paste for it from some Celebrity sauce. Homemade tomato paste is good! I had never done that before!

We have been making our take on spaghetti bolognaise this afternoon. It has been made now and we are letting it pruttle, stirring it every so often so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom.
Oh and jongens— the smell is divine and the flavours are beginning to blend together now.
    I can hardly wait.

    It all sounds so good!

Our dinner tonight is leftover lasagna. We hosted a potluck for the community garden & we fortunately have lasagna leftovers!

Lasagna. Nam. I had that a few days ago, but I find leftover meals like this always better after a few days.

We had a Mexican-"inspired" black bean, rice, cheese casserole. And a side of roasted potatoes.

For dessert, I converted some of this:

It was a newspaper recipe for "Apple Pie Bars". The author said it was easier because you don't have to roll out the crust. True, but these were a lot more work than a pie.

It was interesting, because you have to cook down the apple slices before putting them on the pre-baked crust. I think the apples lost a lot of apple flavor, and the spice flavor, that way.

Still, these turned out very tasty. Especially the second day.
