I suspect the British and the French will entertain the Americans at some point by announcing they are Brinch or Frentish peoples. Two things are predictable. One: Water runs downhill. Two: Payday is on Friday. I hope this never influences the history of plumbing and the names given in honor of the inceptors.

 

It was time to cut down the second batch of ornamental grass for the veggie bed.
Also the pepper plants that are in the greenhouse. I pruned them and will try and hold them over.




You can just barely see the stubs of the stems peeking out of their straw insulation. I am interested to see if they will survive this way.

 

I'd put some fleece on top as well @Sjoerd

I've had bean plants survive outside when they've been covered

 

Yesterday planted some more polyanthus, only 6 more to do and that's it.

 

The plants are in a greenhouse. Do you feel that fleece is necessary in there? I my flop some over it anyway. When I have done this before I kept them indoors at home.

 

If ever we're in doubt about fleece, as long as we have some it goes on - better safe than sorry, and it's easy to whip it off again in the morning.

 

I am a big believer in the “when in doubt” philosophy.
The whip it off ease which you mention is awkward for me as it is not outside my house door, it is a three kilometre bike ride to the lottie. Chuckle.

Say Zigs— are you going to hold them over like that, or prune them back to the Y’s ?

I believe that Kentish weather conditions are much better than ours over the winter. That is to say warmer and perhaps dryer.

My Bride laughed and called me a fool for trying to hold over the peps this year, saying that we are drying enough for three years, and begging the question—“What are we going to do with more next year”!?

Are you planning to hold these plants inside the shelter?
The harsh weather condition is one of the serious problems faced by the plants and grass in the landscaping area. Recently due to the bad weather condition, our backyard got flooded and the water ruined all the garden plants in the backyard. I failed to safeguard the landscaping area because of a lack of a proper drainage system. Now I'm planning to install new varieties of grasses in the backyard after building a proper backyard drainage system

 

Sjoerd I've got enough chillies to last us a lifetime, so I said no more growing them but I've kept back the 6 plants that we bought, but no more, had trouble with greenfly this year so usually I bin them for next year.

 

I'll prune back the plants that still have fruits on after I pick them, but there's one that's still got small fruits and flowers on

 

Started collecting the leaves today

 

Yesterday collected a lot of leaves from around the back of the house on the public footpath. Don't get a lot in the garden and they're for the hedgehogs, I'll put them around their houses that we made.
Nothing today it's raining on and off.
