    I think it warmed into the teens today. A little bit of snow melted, and with the help of my oven, the house got warm enough for me to shower. Even my shampoo was partly frozen... (100+ year old house). I moved my starts into my bedroom, it keeps warmer than the rest of the house.

    I took care of Horsey and my chickens and cats and dogs. My grandkitties are indoors in my house in this cold. They have been staying outdoors most of the summer and fall, but are glad to come in out of this bitter cold. (DIL doesnt make them come indoors).

    It is supposed to be in the 30s for Wednesday and Thursday, so it will be muddy if it warms up like that.

    Been keeping warm with layers...

    They say that snow also puts nitrogen into the soil also. Free fertilizer. :)

    It's got chilly this evening, down to -6c
    The snow has melted a bit. No gardening, but it meant my golf course was closed today. It was OK when I played on Monday, but with more snow forecast tomorrow, there'll be no golf on Friday. I've been watching a lot of the tennis from Australia.

    Our warmth is supposed to be Monday. We had indoor recess today because of the wind chill. My poor raspberries are covered with a huge mound of snow from the guy that plowed our alley.

    I ordered some promix seed starter. I have two sweet potatoes in a bin. One is the one my neighbor gave me, I don't know if it will make it. I actually put them on a shelf high in the bathroom. Everything I read said they like warm and humid. The bathroom has both and Minney (plant eating cat) has never jumped on that shelf. My first thought was the top of the refrigerator because it's warm. But she watched with high interest as I put them in the bin (it's about shoe box size) then watched me walk to the refrigerator. So to the bathroom they went. She probably could have cared less if the one hadn't had all those sprouts on it.

    Score on the eggs Daniel!

    Today is a big day - yesterday I brought some seed starting mix inside from the porch to thaw by the fire. Angus and I trudged through the snow to get some pots from the horse trailer ( pot storage trailer). Today I plant my onions, leeks and four pepper plants.

    I'm starting Ailsa Craig, Exhibition, and Candy onions . They are all Spanish onions, which we really enjoy. The Candy onions in particular keep very well. I still have six strings of onions up in the art room.

    I'm starting three varieties of leeks this year. I have to say my favourite for my short season/cold climate is the Giant Musselburgh. Starting them early allows me to enjoy a large leek in the fall. The Monstrous Carentan and Large American flag are close seconds for me, but a little smaller.

    I AM SO EXCITED!!! ermmmm...cough cough.... Je m'excuse s'il vous plait - I didn't mean to yell. :rolleyes::stew1::stew2::flower:

    Received the lilly bulbs and gladioli corms today and put them in the garage for a while. The lilies i can plant in pots to go outside when I've got some compost.
