Yesterday afternoon did all my perennials seedlings. Split up and moved some Iris's. This morning planted grape and sungold tomatoes, Black Beauty and Ping Tung eggplants along with the cucumbers Poinsetta, Marketmore, General Lee and Homemade.

I got out in the garden early to get my Zinnias planted out since they have been 4 days outside acclimatizing and it's cloudy. Perfect day for transplanting. First I picked some Zinnias for the vase and a glad.

I planted out 21 zinnias, some here, some there, wherever I could find room. Then I did some weeding, washed a whole slew of pots and trays and set them on my back porch shelf to dry.

I had 2 Courgettes giving me loads of fruits so, one was encroaching on my cucumber plants so I took that one out and cut it up for the compost pile. I already have 16 servings of Courgettes that I par boiled and froze so, the second plant may be nearing the end of it's days too !! :p

Anniekay You are so lucky to have zinnias and glads in your garden. I have to wait til late July here. It’s a very short blooming season in the PNW.

Normally I have them all planted out by early march but I ran out of room under the grow lights this year so started these in march.

I don't think I would like it up there where you are. I have driven through the PNW and it is gorgeous country but I would go nuts waiting so long to get gardening. As it is I can hardly get through Dec., Jan, and Feb !! :)

Yeap your right with a short garden season in PNW. In northwest Oregon here zone 8b there are several different zones. Southwest different zone than eastern Oregon spans Sunset Climate Zones 1 through 3, characterized by its arid desert regions and high elevations. Heaviest snowfall occurs east of the Cascades where there can be 15 to 75 inches of snow annually. Average annual temperatures range from low 60s in the summer to mid 30s in the winter. The Oregon growing zones range from 4b to 9b. A wide variety of zones.

Put the Gruncher on the trailer and took it over the field, had loads of stuff to burn but some of it was ok to put through and chip.

The plywood crate was off the woodburner we had delivered, it's ideal for putting in the bag and catching all the chippings :)

    Just a point of interest,

If after doing some gardening, you chuck the pair of chinos you've been wearing, plus other clothes, into the washing machine. Then, after they've been washed, you put them in the tumble dryer. When you take them out and you suddenly remember, you'd left a couple of camera SD cards in a back pocket, they still work.

Busy day yesterday tidying up the borders ,deadheading, watering the front terrace while hubs finished off trimming the boundary hedge that runs the full length of the front side.

Started the day with the now normal routine of emptying the greenhouse, and all the cold frames of their residents so as to enjoy their day in the sun. Hopefully if we do get any of this much promised rain over the next couple of weeks I will be able to start a mass planting out session.

We then took down all the inner insulation inside the greenhouse and gave it a good tidy up . Probably jinxed the weather now.:D

Day off and going out for lunch today, then visiting my brother in his care home later.

This morning I broad casted a bunch of assorted annual seeds in large planter. Cover with soil and watered well. Wonder what it will look like. Hopefully I will get a good germination rate.

    I did a bit today.

I decided these heathers in the two troughs were looking a bit scraggy.

In fact, one in the right-hand trough was dead.

As these troughs are in a prominent position, I decided we needed some new plants.

As I had shopping to do, I called in at B&Q and bought eight Impatiens and four Dianthus, plus six new black plastic pots for them in Home Bargains. I made up a mixture of compost and top soil and planted two in each pot. I gave the troughs a good clean too.

So these will do for the summer.

The other four heathers, once I'd blown all the dead wisteria petals out of them, don't look too bad.

They may go back in the troughs at the end of the year.

This is the other azalea I bought in B&Q a couple of months ago, but this one was only £10.

It flowered too early to have a turn by the front door.

My mate borrowed my Sex Pistols album but then left it leaning against the radiator when he brought it back. It melted into a 45 degree angle so I put it under the grill and flattened it out again.

    It still played afterwards :)
