Been planting out some of the Dahlia divisions I took last year, hard work as the ground is so dry. I dug in loads of fresh compost and leaf mould with a sprinkling of slow release fertiliser....just for good luck;):fingerscrossed:.
Trying to get as much done as possible just incase the rain decides to honour us with its presence at around midday...but still currently sunny out here albeit a tad on the breezy side. Had to re- stake a couple of tall plants that were impersonating looking a bit drunk!!
Just sitting in a sheltered spot having a cup of tea, and it feels quite warm.

Oh no @Sjoerd !! Cute looking as they are the cause such havoc . So far none in our garden but I have noticed loads of mole hills....which are increasing at an alarming rate in the fields opposite us, some are worryingly almost up to the hedge now.:(

I did a bit this morning, pruned off a few wisteria shoots and dead blooms, dead-headed the roses and two rhodos (these took for ever!)

Now watching the tennis from Roland Garros, a choice between four matches on TNT.
Earlier, I watched Emma Raducanu squeeze past Wang Xinyu, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
She needed the doctor after the first set. That girl has never been fully fit since the US Open she won.

    Was Naomi Osaka up late?
She appears to still have her rollers in.

Well it's been a blustery old afternoon out here with intermittent spells of sunshine....but the rain never materialised..no suprises there.

So I have manage to do a bit of weeding ( only as far as I could steadily reach in) of two of the borders and have planted out a couple more baby Dahlias, plus some Cleome, Petunias and Dianthus (grown from cuttings).

Had to help hubs re- stake 2 of the Lavatera thuringaiacas. The gusty wind had toppled them slightly, also had to remove a couple of their branches. We love having them dotted around our garden but they are so delicate and shallow rooted and we are always re-staking or lopping of snapped branches.

I picked a whole slew of tomatoes, some fresh parsley from the yard and now I'm making a batch of salsa to put in the freezer. I like making salsa because if I want to I can later add tomato paste to it and have spaghetti sauce to use when making Eggplant (Aubergine) parmesan with my eggplants.

Nothing much here. We have had heavy rains off and on for several days, some high winds and flooding in low areas. I am on a hill, but my yard is all soupy. My yard is a jungle, DS wont be home until near the 6th, so no mowers working yet. My machinery skills are minimal. (oil, spark plugs, gas, air filters...). My shoulder is some better, but still sore a lot.

I only have about 3 ft to go on that ditch, plus the little extra DS would like if I can do it. MAYBE I can get at it Wednesday, when/if we get a lull in the rains.

I did pick up some downed branches and added them to my burn pile, and tried to clean up after my dogs. I have been pulling some things for Horsey to eat. She likes certain weeds, and I am glad to let her eat them. Other kinds of weeds go into the compost soup tub for fertilizer.

The #2 pot of ginger has several sprouts. It has been chilly with all the rain, and ginger does not like chilly. I hope it warms up a bit soon. The tub of ginger is probably shivering out there...

Mama Coony still comes around for her snacks. I surprised her raiding a bag of cat food this afternoon. She surprised me too. I accidently forgot to bring it in after some errands. She is quite shy, and hopefully she stays shy. Other people are not nice to raccoons, and I would not want her to get hurt.

It's been a bit since I've done much... it was raining for a week straight and I just couldn't do anything even mow... my grass got pretty long. But yesterday it was finally clear and dry enough for me to cut my grass and I went ahead and planted a few Dahlias (i hope they are good because they were pretty dry and I think maybe too old to germinate... but we'll see) as well as some tall white phlox, and another one, I forgot what it was but it looked pretty on the package lol. i also pulled up a bunch of dandelions invading my corner garden. I found that a lot of cosmos reseeded themselves from last year. I started pulling some up to thin them out though because there's so many!!! So I got a bit done, mostly weeding. ugh.

Edit: I found the name of the flowers I couldn't remember were called: Freckle face blackberry lily!

Too wet for gardening, so it was laundry, shopping and watching tennis on TV.
Rain early tomorrow, on my golf day, but it is forecast to stop, so we may have dried out by the time we come in.

This weekend got everything in the veggie and fruit garden planted. Ended needing a few Jalapeno starts and a Serrano (both on next years seed list). Found them Serrano was tough tried local first ended up getting a Bonnie from chain store. Also ended up getting a yellow and red bell as filler and bought celery and red & green cabbage (local nursery) since I had the space.

Great news Clay— got any piccies?
Things are coming along well there I see.

We went to the lottie today in spite of the predicted rain. We had eight large trugs of weeds to go to the HVC, the local refuse gathering location.
We had to harvest the mange touts and check for mole damage.
We suckered and pruned the toms again and tied the twirling bean vines in.
Then we were away to process the mange touts before supper.

We are making plans tomorrow. There is always something to plan for, it seems.
